One of the Specialized Scheduled Bank is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Business Development to lead the bank’s growth initiatives. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in business development specially agriculture sector, strategic planning, and relationship management within the banking or financial services sector. This role is critical in driving the bank’s expansion, identifying new business opportunities, and strengthening existing client relationships. The Head of Business Development will be responsible for managing both the asset and liability sides of the bank’s operations, digital financial services, ensuring balanced growth, recovery of NPL and profitability in line with the strategy of the bank.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Business Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy that aligns with company long-term goals. Identify and prioritize new business opportunities, including markets, products, and partnerships. Collaborate with senior management to ensure business development efforts are integrated with the bank’s overall strategic direction.
  • Market Research & Expansion: Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs. Explore and develop new business avenues, with a focus on retail banking, SME banking, and cooperative banking, particularly in the agriculture sector. Identify and pursue strategic partnerships that enhance the bank’s market presence and service offerings.
  • Asset & Liability Management: Oversee the growth and management of the bank’s asset portfolio, including loans, investments, and other financial products. Develop strategies to grow the bank’s deposit base, ensuring a balanced approach to asset and liability management. Monitor and manage funding sources and cost of funds to optimize profitability.
  • Client Relationship Management: Lead the development and maintenance of strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. Ensure high levels of client satisfaction by delivering tailored solutions that meet their needs. Manage and expand existing client relationships to maximize retention and revenue growth.
  • Product Innovation & Launch: Collaborate with product teams to develop innovative banking products and services that meet market demands. Oversee the launch of new products, ensuring effective marketing and adoption by target customers. Continuously assess the bank’s product portfolio, making recommendations for enhancements or new offerings.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the business development team to achieve sales targets and business objectives. Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and ensure the team has the necessary skills and tools. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the team.
  • Financial Management & Reporting: Develop and manage the business development budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Monitor and analyze the financial performance of business development initiatives, providing regular reports to the CEO. Identify and address any revenue generation gaps, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all business development activities comply with relevant banking regulations and industry standards. Identify and mitigate risks associated with new business ventures, including legal, financial, and operational risks. Collaborate with risk management and compliance teams to ensure thorough assessment and compliance.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Representation: Serve as the key point of contact for business development matters, representing bank at industry events, conferences, and meetings. Communicate the bank’s business development strategy and progress to the Board of Directors, CEO, and other key stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, regulators, and industry bodies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the banking or financial services sector, particularly in the agriculture sector.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth and achieving revenue targets.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products, services, and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute effectively in a fast-paced environment.
