Modeling, Simulation and Hardware Implementation of PMU for the protection

<div><p>The transmission system is a major part of electrical</p> <p>energy. A fault in the transmission line can cause a</p> <p>break in the supply of electrical energy to the load,</p> <p>resulting in losses to consumers. A wide-area</p> <p>measurement system is needed which includes</p> <p>monitoring, controlling, and protection by combining</p> <p>the functions of the phasor measurement device. The</p> <p>Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) is a technology in</p> <p>electric power systems that has synchronous</p> <p>measurement devices that are synchronously updated</p> <p>and are real-time. PMU is method of measuring the</p> <p>phasor values of current and voltageand gives to the</p> <p>control center. The advantages increasing demand</p> <p>and complexity of transmission system form to</p> <p>introducing new technologies like synchronized</p> <p>phasor measurement unit. MATLAB/Simulink has</p> <p>been used to simulate a two bus system, phasor</p> <p>measurement unit functional blocks and</p> <p>synchronization process. The results of the output of</p> <p>both the PMUs are compared to analyze the</p> <p>synchronization process.</p></div>
