Summary

General hygiene is a vital element in enhancing the quality of health care services delivered to a community.
A hygiene promoter provides a range of simple but effective services to enhance body hygiene, especially for young children and the aged, who are most at risk of contracting communicable diseases such as flu, typhoid.
These hygiene services are mostly needed in developing countries where barriers to basic health care are high or in areas prone to frequent natural disasters, such as tsunamis, earthquakes and floods.
