I have been contributing to sustainable development and humanitarian outcomes for the last 32 years. My UN career started as an UNV in 2007 and I have recently completed 7 years of work as Project Coordinator (NOB) with ILO. I have also worked for FAO, UNESCO and UNIDO.
My overall contributions range from the community-based grassroots works to the advocacy at the apex policy levels in the areas of social protection, child labour, forced labour, rural development, agriculture, forestry, training, livelihoods, trade diplomacy, international labour/ social standards, resilience development etc.
During 2014-2022, I contributed to the formulation, implementation and evaluation of 2 cycles of Pakistan's Decent Work Country Programme. At the same time, I managed/ closed 5 projects worth USD 3 million on rural economy and International Labour Standards (ILS) for ILO Pakistan.
Working as a Project Manager with FAO (2012-2014), I contributed to bettering the food security and disaster resilience of 63,000 families in the Sindh and Baluchistan Provinces.
Between 2008- 2012, I worked in advisory/ managerial roles with UNIDO, UNESCO, Corporate Sector, CARE International, ACF International and National Organizations in the areas of management training, research, information/ communication, and the implementation of food security and livelihood programmes worth more than USD 25 million.
In 2007, I began my UN career as a UN Volunteer. At that time, I worked in the Prime Ministers Secretariat and contributed to enabling the National Volunteer Movement in developing a training manual, then using the same for training 300 youth across Pakistan as first responders to emergencies.
During 1998-2007, I worked for various NGOs, INGOs and corporate entities, in managerial/ coordination/ advisory roles in the areas of community development and training works.
My first professional assignment (1990-1998) was as Assistant Forest Manager with a Forest Corporation. There, I Supervised 100 plus Staff and assisted with the timely delivery of inclusive programmes worth more than USD 20 million, creating jobs/ employment for thousands of locals through ensuring technology transfer and capacity building.
I have done my graduation in Forestry, followed by a master in IT. I have also completed professional courses in Rural Development and International Labour Standards from the ILO's Training Centre in Turin. Other courses include a professional certification in HRM, courses on CSR, Climate Change, CBDRR, EMMA, Conflict Analyses and Resolution etc. from the World Bank Institute, SDPI, ADPC, Practical Action Group and UNITAR respectively.
I can fluently speak English and Urdu and know some basic Arabic and French languages.
My passion is to contribute to making the world and the workplaces better and safer for everyone.
