Having work experience in branch banking of 12 years, I worked as Teller, General Banking Officer, Teller Services Supervisor & Manager Operations. Due to my extensive set of skills, I was elevated in UBL as Internal Controls Monitoring Officer (ICMO). I then joined MCB Bank Ltd as Manager - Proofs & Verification, Currently I am working in Sanctions Screening Unit-AML Department of MCB Bank Ltd.
1. Review, oversight and monitoring of screening hits resolved by a team of screening officers.
2. Prior screening and opinion on highlighted business transactions pertaining to/from Sanctioned / High risk Countries in order to prevent sanctions breaches and regulatory violations
3. Timely response to OFAC/BSA queries pertaining to SWIFT remittances of all international locations to ensure remitter / beneficiary are not on any sanctioned list.
4. To ensure timely preparation of STRs for further review by AML Head beforesubmission to FMU (Financial Monitoring Unit). Additionally, facilitate Analysts for timely resolution of FMU queries and those received from LEAs.
5. Actively participate in bank-wide awareness trainings for AML/CFT to strengthen the Compliance culture within the Bank either as a trainer or attendee.
6. Take necessary initiative to apprise AML staff about changing industry trends and best practices.
7. To develop and implement continuous improvement strategies in existing AML processes in conjunction with Line Management.
8. To ensure updation of latest names of Proscribed Individuals as communicated & uploading latest SDN lists in system and bank’s portal on periodic basis; also ensuring proper assets freezing/unfreezing of specific individuals as per instructions received from time to time.
9. Lead, direct and motivate Screening Officers to ensure clarity of purpose and work towards common goals with a focus towards talent retention along with management of work load on weekends and holidays.
• Monitoring of critical Control Heads of assigned branches. Ensuring proper balancing of outstanding balances and timely adjustment of outstanding entries in these GL Heads.
• Review of Account opening requirements of Salary / Pension accounts (Sample Basis).
• Monitor and identify compliance risks, coordinate control improvements and check implementation status.
• Assistance in development of compliance training materials as required.
• Communicate sensitive information across departments.
• Review and investigation of actions that trigger flags in various review systems.
• Perform all aspects of a thorough investigation process due diligence on all assigned allegations, develop the investigation plans, determining objectives of the investigation, conducting the investigations, and documenting and retaining investigation reports and evidence.
• Deal with the investigation from government bureaus, support the investigation activities including but not limited to document collection, interview arrangement, etc.
• Working closely with Management team to ensure that compliance allegations/issues within the organization are being appropriately and timely evaluated, investigated and resolved.
• Provide regular updates to Management team about the investigation status.
• Support the Chief Compliance Officer to foster ethical behavior. Ensure all internal stakeholders understand and follow compliance policy requirements.
• Monitoring of designated branches with respect to Audit/SBP & procedural compliance.
• Performing periodic visits of designated branches in order to check their operational working & ensuring on-job training of staff along with identification & rectifications of the operational lapses.
• Responsible for increased Audit rating of assigned branches.
• Submitting a consolidated report of visited branches at month end to management.
• Fully responsible for smoothly managing operations of branch & ensuring quality customer services.
• Supervision of Cash staff regarding Cash in hand limit and maintenance of books.
• Supervision of the Cheque books balancing, ATM Cards & clearing of the branch.
• Ensuring minimum 97% uptime of branch ATM.
• Supervision of Branch Expenses with regarding to proper posting & within limit as per financial powers of the branch.
• Looking after matters regarding Deceased cases till disbursement.
• Lockers Management regarding issuance & balancing of key deposit & recovery of overdue locker rent from customers.
