Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a UK based charity having headquarters in Birmingham. Islamic Relief is working for emergency relief and sustainable development for marginalized people of society in 36 countries round the globe (http://islamic-relief.org ).
 In April 2018, I was deployed by IRW from Chad to Mali as Finance Manager.
As Finance Manager, I was leading my team of coordinator and field accountants. My major responsibilities were as below:
o   Ensure completion of quality and timely accounting cycle of transactions of cash and bank with proper supporting documents and invoices/receipts and their recording in the ERP(AX) while complying with IRW financial guidelines and acceptable accounting standards and procedures.
o   Prepare monthly management reports(BAVs) for timely corrective actions.
o   Monthly cash & bank account reconciliations in country programe.
o   Prepare monthly fund reports of the country program and submit to HQ for regional team feedback, decision making and support (wehre needed).
o   Ensure adequate liquidity of funds is maintained in country program.
o   Supervise and ensure the year-end adjustments like accruals and prepayments, stocktaking, and depreciation of assets are accounted for and incorporated in the financial system and subsequently year-end financial statements are prepared for management approval and statutory audit purpose.
o   Active participation in setting financial strategy of country program through income, thematic & geographical location prioritization.
o   Prepare project budgets for IRW partners and donors, adjust the ongoing budgets (where needed) and submit for donor approval.
o   Ensure the compliance with IRW policies, grants agreement and donor guidelines.
o   Prepare periodical and final project reports as per agreements.
o   Ensure that tax and other legal requirements of the country laws have properly complied.
o   As a department lead make necessary arrangements for the statutory and project audit.
o   Conducted staff induction and training of finance and non-finance staff for better understanding of finance processes and policies.
o   Being technical reference, coordinate with ICT team for troubleshooting of system bugs affecting financial information system.
o   Periodical field visits to provide support to field finance team and review the practices in place.
o   Train newly recruited staff about processes of ERP in use.

o   Ensure tax compliance in line with land laws on payments to vendors and staff.
 
During this era, I was also deployed as Finance & Admin Manager with Islamic Relief Haiti(Dec 2014 to September2015).  under this role as was responsible for :
o   Donor compliance in procurement of Islamic Relief Haiti.
o   Prepare project budgets, donor and management reports.
o   Process monthly payroll in line with labor laws and employment contract.
o   Review construction contracts.
o   Ensure adequate liquidity in country program.
o   Lead roll in assets disposal on program closure.
o   Preparation of Country exit plan and its successful execution.
o   Get audited accounts of Islamic Relief Haiti for FY 2014 & 15.
On successful closure of Haiti office I resumed my duties in Pakistan from 1st October 2015.
