Truck Dispatcher

You will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our trucking fleet. This role involves coordinating and scheduling truck routes, ensuring timely deliveries, and communicating with drivers and customers to address any issues or changes. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solid understanding of logistics and transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

Route Planning: Develop and manage efficient routes for truck drivers to ensure timely deliveries while considering factors such as traffic, weather, and delivery windows.
Scheduling: Coordinate and schedule truck assignments, ensuring optimal utilization of the fleet and compliance with regulations.
Driver Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing support, addressing concerns, and relaying necessary information regarding routes and schedules.
Customer Service: Communicate with clients to confirm delivery schedules, update them on the status of their shipments, and resolve any issues that arise.
Monitoring: Track the location and progress of trucks using GPS and other tracking systems to ensure adherence to schedules and make adjustments as needed.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including delivery logs, driver reports, and compliance documentation.
Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any delays or issues that occur during transit, including vehicle breakdowns, traffic delays, or route changes.
Compliance: Ensure that all dispatch operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including hours of service and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certifications in logistics or transportation management is a plus.
Experience: Proven experience as a dispatcher or in a similar role within the transportation industry is preferred.
Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking skills, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in dispatch software and tracking systems.
Knowledge: Familiarity with transportation regulations, safety standards, and route optimization techniques.
