Area Senior Database Officer

ACTED is a non-governmental organization with headquarters in Paris, founded in 1993. Independent, private and not-for-profit, ACTED respects a strict political and religious impartiality and operates according to the principles of non-discrimination and transparency. ACTED has been present in Pakistan since 1993. ACTED Pakistan programmes range from short-term emergency responses to recovery and rehabilitation, as well as longer-term development initiatives. ACTED strategy is to target vulnerable communities affected by natural and conflict-related disasters as well as lack of socio-economic development.

The Area Senior Database Officer will;

A. Development of Information Collection Mechanisms;

To ensure regular gathering of data collected by MEAL Monitors/program staff;
To develop ACCESS database for data entry;
To ensure accurate and timely entry of data into the database and support data entry where necessary;
To ensure proper filing of data;
To work closely with the other Database and AMEU staff to regularly enter, cross check data and update household data collected in the field.

B. Data Analysis

To analyze data as per demand of MEAL / Programme ;
To produce synthetic reports, properly filed and transferred into the Resource Center.

C. Preparation, conception and production of maps

To collect mapping needs from every departments;
To identify and access map information sources;
To ensure accurate link between map and Database data, solving all eventual discrepancies;
To ensure that the produced maps meet the requirements of concerned Organization departments and are properly filed and transferred to the Resource Center;
To disseminate the new maps to the concerned departments.
To organize and supervise GIS field missions;
To monitor accuracy of data collected

D. Reporting

To work according to the priorities set by the MEAL department;
To report to the AMEU Assistant at frequent and regular intervals on the progress of data entry and any outstanding inaccuracies and / or discrepancies;
To provide a weekly progress report to the MEAL on activities carried out by the database team.

ACTED has been present in Pakistan since 1993 with assistance ongoing presently in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Azad Jammu Kashmir. The country programme comprises of four key pillars: Pillar 1 – Humanitarian assistance – Through this component, ACTED supports the emergency and early recovery needs of communities following disasters. In recent years this has included support for communities affected by floods, earthquakes and the complex emergency; Pillar 2 – Income generation and sustainable livelihoods – ACTED has extensive experience in this sector including market-oriented vocational trainings, basic skills development, as well as on and off-farm livelihood assistance; Pillar 3 – Social cohesion and access to basic services – ACTED improves access to basic services through a range of measures including support for educational institutions, community infrastructure and local governance. Social cohesion is a key component to ensuring equitable service provision. ACTED’s interventions include the establishment of local representation bodies as well as supporting the rights of women, minorities and marginalized groups; Pillar 4 – Environmental protection and community resilience – This pillar aims to mitigate some of the effects of recurrent disasters, climate change and environmental degradation.
