Job Summary:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Project Coordinator, the DRR Officer will be responsible for the following deliverables;

  • Liaison with existing community structures of the target areas; LSOs, VDMCs, IERTs, and CRPs. DRR office will assist the project team in the identification and selection of CRPs for project activities.
  • Organize and hold general and focus group meetings to introduce CESVI, its strategy and activities in the country, and orientation on the project.
  • DRR officer will organize meetings/sessions with the support of CRP, in the target communities to develop and validate the flood and cyclone-focused crisis timelines, trigger setting, anticipatory actions, etc.
  • Conduct regular meetings with CRPs, LSOs, VDMCs, IERTs and the local community to roll out the project activities.
  • Follow, supervise and monitor the implementation of the activities in the field, as requested by the PM, the PC or the heads of the support units (logistics, engineering, M&E, etc.)
  • Ensure the participation of the CRPs, LSO, IERTs, VDMCs and local communities in project activities.
  • Assist the project team in conducting project surveys; KAPs, base and end-lines, beneficiary registration etc.
  • Assist the project team in the development of IEC materials (including radio messages/SMS).
  • Assist the project team in the identification of water level gauge poles for rehabilitation, and closely monitor the process.
  • Assist the project team in liaising with the key district, taluka and UC-level stakeholders for greater achievement of the organizational objectives, and implementation of project activities. DRR officer will also assist the project team in organizing project meetings, events, and workshops.
  • Ensure timely implementation of all planned project interventions.
  • Facilitate external stakeholder visits to the assigned project areas as and when required, in consultation with Project Coordinator.o   Address and solve problems that might arise between the community and CESVI, or among community members, during and because of the implementation of the project activities, reporting - or handing over, if the case - to the project management the most sensitive and serious ones.
  • Promote and motivate inclusive participation by villagers/ elders and community representatives, in all project activities, taking care to assist cooperation with regard to gender, political, ethnic, and other factors.
  • Ensure timely submission of daily/weekly/monthly field visit reports to the project team.
  • Keep a record of all the project activities-related data (including attendance sheets, reports, meeting minutes, receiving etc.)
  • Assess and report on community needs with the rest of the team to achieve objectives of Cesvi Emergency project
  • Any other task assigned by the management.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in development studies, social sciences, education or other relevant fields.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with Master’ degrees.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of relevant project experience in a similar position in NGOs/INGOs/UN Agencies.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working on DRR/M projects, social mobilization, or community training.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge about community mobilization and motivation techniques.
  • Good communication, and conflict management skills.
  • General understanding of DRR/M, and CCA concepts.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
