The incumbent will be responsible to implement the social mobilization approach of project in line with IRP strategy to sensitize communities in the target areas especially women, children, local faith leaders so that they are more aware about issues related to child marriages and child rights. They will also be responsible to ensure that all community-based networks are in coordination with each other. The community mobilizers will works closely with the project team to organise community meetings, through engaging with relevant community elders to ensure that community members and stakeholders have a clear understanding of the project goals and objectives and gain acceptance and support from them. The post holder will build relationships among Islamic Relief and the community, parents, children, faith leaders and relevant CSOs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Technical

•The post holder will conduct a baseline study to understand child marriage issues/challenges through informal dialogues with beneficiaries, faith leaders and influencers to capture existing social & cultural norms and behaviors in target communities.

•Conduct needs assessment/base line/surveys for data collection in targeted project areas.

•Identification & prioritization of most vulnerable/marginalized villages through PRA tools.

•Initial contacts & project introduction of project in the targeted areas.

•He/she will liaise with community elders, parents and faith leaders to introduce project activities and encourage their involvement in project implementation.

•Formation, revitalization, and strengthening of community development committees/organizations by ensuring the inclusion of all segments of society on sustainable basis.

•Conduct regular meetings with community organizations for raising awareness about child rights and child marriages issues.

•Facilitate & support other sectoral leads at ground in need identification/prioritization & verification of the project interventions/activities.

•Close coordination with relevant stakeholders working in the project's targeted areas.

•Conducting community awareness sessions and organize various training sessions/workshops / Campaigns / Special Events for local community organizations.

•Regular follow-up and monitoring of project activities & timely reporting of identified gaps with the best possible solutions.

•Facilitate in arrangement of IRP / donor visits to project areas.

•Conduct CO / LSO profiling i.e. collection of primary level data for situation analysis of the communities and compilation of surveys being conducted on various issues in the project area.

•He/she will be responsible for monitoring child protection interventions including psychosocial support activities, and support the establishment of community mobilization teams and community-based Child Protection Mechanisms, awareness raising activities.

•Builds and maintains effective relationships, with their team, colleagues and external partners.

Operational

•Preparation of weekly/monthly work plans against PMT (performance-measured time frame) by ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in the stipulated period.

•Maintenance of hard records that includes field visit reports, CO meeting minutes, assessment records & other relevant documentation.

•Ensure proper filling of forms & formats as per desired standard.

•Extend support to MEAL / MIS / Communications staff for gathering desired information.

•Ensure availability of up-to-date info in MIS regularly with the consultation of MIS / M&E.

•Close coordination with line manager for effective implementation of project activities.

•CM will identify and proactively communicate any issues that might affect the project implementation and engage community support with guidance from the line manager.

•Must be flexible and adapt to changes quickly to the requirements of the changed situation.

Organizational

•Ensure compliance with IR’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.

• In-depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.

•Abide by the IR zero-tolerance policy towards bribery & corruption through sensitization/empowerment of communities on coping mechanisms so that they can raise voice as & when feel inappropriate.

•Assist in the identification & documentation of organizational successes for showcasing IR work

•Focused efforts also to be made for mainstreaming of marginalized groups i.e. persons with disability and old age, minorities, women & children etc in consultation & implementation of project activities at ground.

•Strengthen mechanism to Influence the decision makers through communities to pay attention towards DRR planning, give voice to suffering and the excluded, highlight the protection needs of diversified groups.

•He/she should have knowledge of IR’s child safeguarding protocols and Do No Harm principle as core of IRPs proposed strategy to protect children to protect them from sexual, physical and mental exploitation.
