1. Strengthen Community Institutions and Governance Mechanisms
Develop and support the formation or strengthening of community-based organizations (CBOs), Local Support Organizations (LSOs), and Village Organizations (VOs) to ensure inclusive, transparent, and effective community governance structures for climate resilience activities.
2. Facilitate Community Mobilization for Climate Resilience
Lead community mobilization efforts to engage diverse groups (women, youth, PWDs, marginalized communities) in climate resilience and adaptation interventions, ensuring local ownership and sustained participation in project activities.
3. Capacity Building of Community Institutions
Design and implement capacity-building programs to enhance the organizational, financial, and technical capacities of community institutions, enabling them to effectively plan, manage, and sustain climate resilience and disaster risk reduction activities.
4. Support Development of Climate-Resilient Livelihood Strategies
Work closely with community institutions to identify, design, and implement climate-resilient livelihood strategies, including sustainable agriculture, water resource management, and ecosystem restoration initiatives.
5. Promote Conflict-Sensitive Community Engagement
Ensure all community engagement processes are conflict-sensitive by promoting inclusivity, equity, and social cohesion, particularly in areas prone to resource-based conflicts or socio-political tensions.
6. Facilitate Multi-Stakeholder Coordination
Act as a liaison between communities, local governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and partnership, ensuring alignment of local climate adaptation efforts with regional and national resilience strategies.
Established in 1991, NRSP is the largest Rural Support Programme in the country in terms of outreach, staff and development activities. It is a not for profit organization registered under Section 42 of Companies Ordinance 1984. NRSP's mandate is to alleviate poverty by harnessing people's potential and undertake development activities in Pakistan. It has a presence in 46 Districts in all the four Provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir through Regional Offices and Field Offices. NRSP is currently working with more than half a million poor households organized into a network of more than 57,179 Community Organizations. With sustained incremental growth, it is emerging as Pakistan's leading engine for poverty reduction and rural development.
