We are a growing accounting firm based in Toronto, Canada, providing corporate accounting and tax services to small and medium-sized businesses. We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join our team and support the preparation of financial statements and related accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements and working papers for compilation engagements.
- Use accounting and tax software including QuickBooks (Desktop and Online), CaseWare, and other related tools.
- Assist in bookkeeping, reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of client data and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with senior staff and respond to queries in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized records and documentation in accordance with firm standards.
- Communicate professionally with team members and occasionally with clients via email and chat.
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement preparation.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (Desktop & Online), CaseWare, and Microsoft Excel.
- Prior experience working with Canadian accounting or tax engagements preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Must be available to work during regular business hours in the Eastern Time Zone (Toronto, Canada).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience working in a Canadian accounting firm environment is an asset.
- Familiarity with Canadian tax concepts and terminology.
