Improve the Status of the Primary Health Care Facilities in District Tank
<div><p>HDO has implemented the project titled “Improve the Status of The Primary Health Care Facilities in District Tank “with the financial assistance of SGAFP-USAID. HDO has carried out a detailed needs assessment study of the 10 health centers. The Health department, District Tank has also verified these needs. In order to restore the primary health care facilities in the conflict affected district of Tank, HDO proposed to rehabilitate 10 government primary health care units which include one SHC, eight BHUs and one RHC. The buildings of these centers have been renovated besides provision of basic medical equipment for the labor room. Since District Tank is frequented by voltage fluctuation, therefore a voltage regulator has also been installed in each center to protect the medical equipment. To cope with electricity load shedding, particularly during normal deliveries, a petrol generator has been provided to each center.</p></div>

<div><p>HDO has been completed the project titled “Awareness and Advocacy Campaign Aimed at Helping Society Better Interact with the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)” with the financial assistance of USAID under Citizen’s Voice Project Pakistan. According to this project; all these activities have enhanced the awareness of the people of the area and it was explicitly develop their understanding of the process and increase negotiation skills. The activities have revolved around the fulfillment of three primary tasks: 1) Internal support for legislative development (this includes capacity building and orientation of legislature in understanding their responsibilities as elected representative), 2) helping the legislature better communicate with the citizens, and 3) helping society better interact with the legislature, this way ensuring consistent oversight over the legislature and legislation.</p></div>
Peace-Building Training and Exposure Visits for Youth of District Tank
<div><p>District Tank has been afflicted by sectarian conflict and militant unrest and this has adversely affected the psycho-social fabric of the area. It has a negative impact on the youth of the area by depriving them of educational, recreational and developmental opportunities and pushing them toward damaging societal tendencies. HDO implemented a project on “Peace-Building Training and Exposure Visits for Youth of District Tank” with the support Governor Special Development Program (GSDP) in District Tank. The grant was designed to support the youth communities of District Tank through engaging 240 selected youth (140 males and 100 females) from 16 Union Councils of District Tank and providing them with peace building, leadership training, exposure visits of provincial and national assembly and organizing youth forums.</p></div>
<div><p>The project was aimed to provide maximum information to the contesting candidates and mobilize voters to exercise their right of vote. The candidates were mobilized, given trainings and stakeholders were taken onboard to ensure that every segment of society has the right to contest the local government election. The project helped to aware the community regarding women restrictions on voting and low turnout. Due to traditional and conservative backgrounds of the target areas, all the activities were strategized in a way to engage all segments of society and then provide them grounds to sustain the efforts. The trained youth and political workers will help to carry this forward. The project duration was from February 27 2015 to June 26, 2015 and the target areas were district Dera Ismail Khan, situated at the southern corner of KP adjacent to Punjab.</p></div>
Engaging Civil Society to Promote Democratic Local Governance in DIKhan
<div><p>HDO has been accomplished the project titled “Engaging Civil Society to Promote Democratic Local Governance in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” with the financial assistance of USAID under SGAFP. The project has been implemented in identified 06 wards (03 Tehsil D.I.Khan, 03 Tehsil Paharpur). Overall 11 village council and 09 neighborhood councils have been targeted. A pre assessment has been carried out which indicated the importance of intervention and some important points to be considered. In order to ensure the engagement of community, 60 youth (40 male, 20 female) have been identified and they were given capacity building training on LG act, Right to Information Act, Right to Public Services Act and Advocacy. The trained youth then organized community awareness session in their respective communities and provided information regarding RTI/RTPS. As there were two department; Revenue and Local Government, were the main targets, so MoUs were signed with both of them. With the support of Revenue and LG departments, the officials for capacity building trainings were identified.</p></div>
Advocating for Electoral Reforms in Southern Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhw
<div><p>HDO has been completed the project titled “Advocating for Electoral Reforms in Southern Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)” with the financial assistance of USAID under Citizen’s Voice Project Pakistan. The project area was district D.I.Khan, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Bannu and Karak of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The project consists of four main components; these components were: 1) Mobilization of Project Resources, 2) Identification and Training of Activists and Youth Volunteers 3) Advocacy on Identified Issues. In order to implemented core project activities, the HDO was engaged a cohort of activists and youth volunteers. The project staff, district level reforms groups and youth volunteers were trained on how to implement the project. Project staff was trained in the programmatic, operational and financial aspects of project management and implementation, whereas the reforms groups and youth volunteers were trained separately on how to carry out specific a project activities.</p></div>
<div><p>Hamdam Development Organization initiated a project under “Revival of Indigenous Cultural Heritage (RICH)” with the support of Culture Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project duration was four month and geographical coverage of Tehsil D.I.Khan & Paharpur of District D.I.Khan. The project was designed to engage community members, influential, local representatives, district administration, artists and media person to promote local culture. As the culture provides grounds for brotherhood, harmony and tolerance so, its revival is vital to combat terrorism, militancy and bring people together. The RICH project facilitates artist and locals to express their skills in their respective fields and earn the accolades. Moreover, the cultural bonds bridge the gaps among common folks and bring them on one page. In this project, Literary Circles, Traditional Games, Handwork/Handicrafts Exhibition of local Artisans, Folk Music/Hujray Mehfil, Folk Dance, Gorha Naach (Horse Dance), Interactive Theatre, Capacity building Training will be organized aiming to mobilize the youth and locals through above activities and revival of culture will be focused. The following activities will be implemented in four (04) months;1. Folk Music/Hujra Mehfil x 2 x 2 tehsil = 42. Interactive Theatre x 2 x 2 tehsil = 43. Literary circle x 4 x 2 tehsil = 84. Strengthening Electoral and Legislative Process (SELP)-Women NICs
<div><p>Hamdam Development Organization initiated a project under “Strengthening Electoral and Legislative Process (SELP) - Women NICs and Voter Registration Campaign” with the support of Trust for Democratic Education & Accountability (TDEA)/UNDP, Islamabad. The project geographical coverage is in District D.I.Khan, Tank and Lakki Marwat of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In order to achieve the targets for this intervention and ensure the registration of unregistered women, the field staff and volunteers paid visits of target communities. The community meetings were being held in which the members from respective community were given complete introduction of the project and objectives of the projects. Corners meetings with local leaders and influential helped to identify the activists and unregistered women from among target communities. Community elders and leaders’ meetings provided support to mobilize the communities in term of listing and then mobilizing the unregistered women for NICs. Engagement meetings with various stakeholders at district and community level helped to raise support for women’s NICs and voter registration. General coordination meeting with relevant stakeholders including local ECP staff, NADRA staff, DEVCs and local government representative further strengthen the efforts of organization to coordinate with communities and ensured the registration of unregistered women. Overall efforts were focusing to mobilized women and community members for facilitation.</p></div>
<div><p>HDO initiated a project under “National Financial Literacy Program (NFLP)” with the support of SBP-BSC, D.I.Khan. HDO has been conducted sessions to mobilize and educate women & men entrepreneurs in the three districts as part of this initiative.</p></div>
Social Behavior Change Communication on Wheat Flour Fortification
<div><p>Hamdam Development Organization (HDO) started community level “Social Behavior Change Communication on Wheat Flour Fortification” with the support of Nutrition International Islamabad and social mobilization activities in 06 southern Districts (D.I.Khan, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Karak, Hangu and Kohat) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The main purpose of SBCC and Social Mobilization activities was to improve the knowledge of community on Wheat Flour Fortification, importance of micronutrients and also increase demand of fortified wheat flour consumption at household level.HDO community level District Focal Persons started community sessions with their respective groups (Male/Female) in February and March 2021 and mobilized, motivated community members specially mother on the importance of micronutrients, Wheat Flour Fortification program and Nutrition International efforts on food fortification. It was new initiative that was unfamiliar for community members, most of the community members were un-aware on Wheat Flour Fortification in the province and its importance for mother and children health. The community members took keen interest during the community level mobilization sessions and also ensured that they will ensure fortified flour consumption. District Focal Person (Male) also mobilized market level flour retailers to ensure fortified flour at their shops, on the demand of community members. HDO program section ensured COVID-19 preventive measures during conduction of community level sessions.</p></div>

<div><p>Hamdam Development Organization (HDO) started project of “Awareness Campaign on Women’s Right to Inheritance” in Trible district of South Waziristan Agency of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with the support of CAMP. The main purpose of this project was to promote women’s property and inheritance rights and to raise awareness of the women’s inheritance rights as entailed in the religion and law of the land.</p></div>
