Aamir Raza Memon, Development Professional, has the experience of working in knowledge and development sector for more than 17 years. Being a Development Professional, he has expertise in Program Development, management and implementation of multi-sector projects and programs for socio-economic development and Humanitarian response. He is qualified Masters in Business Administration and Bachelor of Civil Engineering and has extensive experience of implementing the projects for Emergency Response (Flood 2010 and 2011), Education, Livelihoods, WASH, Advocacy, Capacity Building, Research and Community Engagement & Mobilization. Leading team to deliver projects as proposed, developing and designing fundraising and resource generation proposals and concept notes for social development, developing MoUs for partnerships, enhancing Donor Outreach, planning budget and managing and reporting programs and projects particularly for Education and livelihoods has been the main parts of his professional experience. Raza has also managed the linkages, memberships, coordination and communication and networking with different stakeholders of development sector, Government line department, USAID, The World Bank, UN OCHA, NHN and national and international Civil Society, Media and donor organizations.


Raza is working (from June 2021 to date) in the World Bank supported “Karachi Neighborhood Improvement Project” (KNIP) as Coordinator (https://knip.gos.pk/). KNIP is to enhance public spaces in targeted neighborhoods of Karachi and to improve the city’s capacity to provide selected administrative services. The project comprised of three components: Public spaces and mobility improvement in selected neighborhoods, support to improve citizen services, and capacity development, and support to implementation and technical assistance.   


Raza worked as “Consultant Trainer” for Oxfam Pakistan’s Project on “Women Peace and Water Governance” and “Sindh Resilience Project” of the World Bank for “Disaster Risk Management” from August 2020 to May 2021.


Raza worked (from May 2019 to July 2020) with Creative Associates International (http://www.creativeassociatesinternational.com/) as Education Policy Coordinator Sindh for the USAID funded Pakistan Reading Project (www.pakreading.org.pk). The USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project (PRP), implemented by the International Rescue Committee and its partners, Creative Associates International, World Learning, and Institute of Rural Management, is working with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education throughout Pakistan to improve the reading skills of children in grades one and two. The project aims to achieve this goal through three distinct but interrelated components that work in synergy to affect the quality of early grade education: improved classroom learning environment for reading, improved policies and systems for reading, and community based support for reading in Pakistan. The key roles of his position are; to lead Policy Initiatives with SELD Sindh for revising Curriculum Development, Scheme of Studies, Reading Standards and Textbooks; to technically assist writing Concept Notes, Working Papers, MoUs, Technical Reports, developing work plans and project related presentations; and to organize Conferences, Workshops, Festivals and meetings.  


Raza had also worked as Program Manager for USAID funded Pakistan Reading Project with Creative Associates International (from May, 2015 to March 2019). The key roles of the position of Program Manager are to develop strong coordination with SELD Sindh and other Stakeholders, manage in-service professional development activities of teachers, organize training workshops and meetings, managing district staff to implement project activities and ensure administrative and logistic support and lead district based staff. 


Raza had worked (from April, 2012 to April, 2015) with Root Work Foundation (www.rwf.org.pk) as "Manager: Program Development & Quality". RWF works for the development and empowerment of the most vulnerable and marginalized groups of Women, Children and Youth. The core programs of RWF are developed and implemented in the sectors of Livelihood, Humanitarian response, WASH, Shelter, Gender, Climate and Education for flood (2010 & 2011) affected persons in Sindh. Whereas Raza managed the resource mobilization, led to develop quality project proposals, ensured the quality and accountability of programs, planned and recommended capacity building of the team, advocated issues of communities and local organizations at different forums, managed networks and linkages of organization with national and international organizations, coordinated and communicated with different funders and donors, represented organization at national and international level and planned and organized internal reviews and strategizes the organizational direction of work. He had been very active member of National Humanitarian Network (NHN) Sindh Chapter and Sindh Land Reforms Movement.


Raza had also worked (from February 2005 to April 2012) as Senior Program Officer (Advocacy and training) to lead "Youth Leadership Development program" with Center for Peace and Civil Society (www.cpcs.org.pk), an independent think-tank working for strengthening the political and civil society based on principles of democracy, freedom and justice. He organized and conducted training workshops, multi-party dialogues, seminars and public forums for civil society. He looked after the capacity building programs for youth, journalists and political activists and had run advocacy campaign for Independent Judiciary, Rule of Law and Democratic Federalism in Pakistan. He promoted and advocated sustainable Democracy, Social Justice, Human Rights and Secularism.


He had also been one of the leading political analysts in regional electronic media in Sindh and hosted regular weekly political talk show “Issues & Ideas” on Sindh Television News.


Raza has visited across USA in the program of "Volunteerism and Civic Engagement", being guest of state department and alumnus International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP), he has visited many universities and institutes of USA promoting volunteerism, funds raising and advocating civic engagement. He is also certified by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology Islamabad for the course on Organizational Management.


In his personal qualities, Mr. Raza is a cooperative, polite, emotionally mature, team player, flexible, tolerant and rational professional. He understands the religious, sectarian, cultural and historical context and sensitivities of different communities, ethnic groups and nationalities in Pakistan. He has extensively travelled in Pakistan for personal and professional requirements.
