Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator

Primary duties includes but not limited to:
To design, develop and plan Health, Safety & Environmental procedures & guidelines as per international standards, ISO 14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007.
Planning, organizing and controlling the HSE initiatives for team of HSE engineers posted at different operational sites of the Company.
Establish and conduct HSE audit programs to ensure consistency and adherence to standards for operational activities, products and waste products or emissions as per law.
Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for the capital and revenue items pertaining to Health, Safety & Environment department.
Supervise and coordinate with site HSE Engineers, HSE Focal Points and line management.
To develop the safe system of work (SSoW) in accordance with the prevailing HSE Management System.
To conduct safe and unsafe audits of any operational site.
To provide necessary guidance and training of HSE procedures / guidelines to executives and subordinate staff.
To investigate minor and major accidents and/or any mechanical system failures to determine root cause and to provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
To design and develop emergency response systems, to estimate and arrange procurement of all necessary materials and equipments to be used in emergency response conditions.
To prepare technical specifications for personal protective equipments to be used by technicians and engineers during operational activities and to perform technical evaluation of the bids.
To prepare technical specifications for fire fighting equipments/fire fighting systems and perform technical evaluation of the bids.
To prepare and ensure implementation of procedures of occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) and environmental management system (EMS) at sites including compressor stations, coating plant and pipeline construction project sites.

Worked as Site HSE Manager for the Ruwais Refinery Expansion Project (TAKREER). This is a US$ 100,000,000 cost project awarded to Ed Zublin AG. Project involved in the construction of non-process buildings comprises of 18 buildings over 30,000 sq.m area on turnkey basis. Major assignments includes development of Safe System of Work in compliance to ADNOC Code of Practice & OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 Standards.
Primary duties includes but not limited to:
Establish, maintain & implement the HSE Plan and ensure its follow-up.
Design & develop solid waste management system and ensure implementation.
Supervise the team of site supervisors & officers in order to ensure the implementation of Management System.
Monitoring & controlling the emissions & effluents in compliance of legal requirements and as per approved code of practices to protect the environment.
Set up emergency procedures including evacuation routes and places as well as safety procedures in consultation with construction coordinator.
Review HSE Management system procedures for compliance and to cater for all risks included in hazard analysis e.g. rescue from heights with standard
Design & develop the procedures & guidelines for handling of hazardous substances.
Coordinate with other department managers to obtain information about activities to be performed to enable planning requiring safety measures.
Advise of safety legislation and procedures.
Ensure the implementation of Environmental Management System.

Safe Operation of plant & machinery in accordance with the quality manual as per standard specifications.
Proper man-management to steer the shift of almost 50 people inclusive employees, contractual workers local labour & hauler staff.
Regularly Conducted SUSA Audits (Safe Unsafe Audits) of the site.
Reviewed, Updated & Modified (when necessary) the SOP’s for the Loading / Unloading of Raw material, Waste collection & disposal.
To make sure the effective implementation of Company's Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) devised by Global ICI PLC.

Scheduling & implementing daily production targets of CAN Plant.
Supervised the dispatch of target oriented fertilizer products like CAN, NP & UREA on the product handling & storage (PH&S) section of the plant site controlling the contractual labour comprising of 80 people per shift.
As a Process Engineer worked at CAN & NP plant suggested and implemented various modifications to overcome the Acid and Ammonia losses.
Supervised and conducted Pressure Testing of Heat Exchangers used in Evaporation and Neutralization sections of the plant.

Supervise Plant Operations to achieve set production targets.
Supervise 100 people working in shifts.
Plan & execute Plant Shut Down maintenance program.
Scheduling & implementing daily production targets of Sulphuric Acid (98%), Zinc Sulphate, Single Super Phosphate (SSP) fertilizer.
Supervised the dispatch of target oriented products like Sulphuric Acid (98%), Zinc Sulphate, Single Super Phosphate (SSP) fertilizer, handling & storage (PH&S) section of the plant site controlling the contractual labour comprising of 80 people per shift.

Primary duties includes but not limited to:
Operate the plant to give the maximum production with the minimum downtime fulfilling all the requirements of the standard.
Managing staff of more than 150 people of all the sub-sections of Pulp Section of the mill to get the maximum out put accordingly.
Exclusively contributed for the certification of ISO 9001 & 9002 and its proper implementation.
Worked on the Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
Designed a pilot plant for the production of 30 MTPD Sodium Sulphite.
Actively participated in planned annual shut downs. Schedule the operational & maintenance jobs by engaging the optimum number of workers with defined targets.
Develop Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Mechanical & Chemical Cleaning of Vacuum Filters.
Develop Safe Operating Procedures (SOP) for removal & refilling of ceramic rashig rings for Cooling & Absorption Towers at the plant site.
Supervise the dispatch of target oriented pulp products to Stock Preparation Unit.
