Potentiometric Determination Of Iron In Water Samples

Iron is not hazardous to health, but it is considered as aesthetic contaminant.Chronically consuming large amounts of Iron can leads to a condition known as Iron overload resulted in gene mutation.Iron overload can lead to hemochromatosis, a severe disease that can damage the vital body organs.Early symptoms include fatigue, weight loss, and joint pain, but if hemochromatosis is not treated, it can leads to heart disease, liver problems and diabetes.Water with excessive amounts of Iron also can damage healthy skin cells. Potentiometric method was developed to find the concentration of Iron(Fe) in water samples.But working electrode was responding to Iron(Fe) with interfering ions present in water samples.This is an initial stage of study.Further advanced research methodology is required to make the working electrode selective to Iron and make improvement in method to easily determine concentration in water samples by potentiometric method.Our proposed research methodology provides an easiest way to determine the concentration of Iron(Fe) in tape water without using costlier and time consuming methods which require less usage of chemicals.
