I am a public health researcher with international recognition for contributions to maternal and child health, infectious disease surveillance, and nutrition. Awarded the prestigious travel grant to attend the 7th World One Health Congress in Singapore (November 2022) and invited to WHO Geneva for a face-to-face investigators meeting on a multicenter study on nutritional management for growth faltering in young infants across Asia and Africa (April 2023).
Recognized for excellence in research presentations, including the Best E-Poster Rapid Oral Presentation on neonatal mortality in Karachi at the 14th Health Science Research Assembly (March 2023). Other notable presentations include work on anemias pregnancy risks at the National Health Sciences Research Symposium (November 2022), SARS-CoV-2 impacts on pregnancy at ASTMH, and environmental SARS-CoV-2 surveillance in Karachi presented at The Global Health Network Conference (November 2022) in Cape Town.
In my current role, I am leading and coordinating research projects such as 'BReAstfeediNg Counselling and management of growth (BRANCH)' with WHO, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and Aga Khan University, ensuring objectives are met within budget and timeline constraints. I manage multidisciplinary teams, overseeing research protocols, data collection, and quality control. My responsibilities also include community behavior change communication and community engagement, cultivating stakeholder relationships, disseminating findings, and advocating for evidence-based policies, while ensuring adherence to research ethics and regulatory mandates
1. Led and coordinated multiple research projects, ensuring objectives were met within budget and timeline constraints. Developed project plans, monitored progress, and managed budgets and resources according to funding requirements.

The current projects include but are not limited to;
1. Nutritional management of growth faltering in infants aged under six months – an individually randomized control trial (BRANCH) .
2. Global burden estimation of Human Papillomavirus (Global HPV) study
Develop and submit abstracts for national and internal journals.
Liaise with donor agencies (WHO and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) for report updates for collaborative work.
Provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of a research project by developing materials/documentation and guidelines for hiring and training the staff to support project planning, monitoring and evaluating results.
Translation of study tools consents and IEC material into Urdu language
Monitor and report on the use of project resources i.e. financial, administrative and other assets and their proper allocation to meet projects goal and outcomes.
Reviewing and updating the project tools, questionnaires, and SOPs on need bases.
Check data consistency daily and provide feedback to the teams as well as Principal Investigators.
Conduct regular field visits, interact with field staff and community and identify and address potential problems, gapes and provide technical assistance and propose solutions to achieve project goals in a timely manner.
Project Supervisions- assist field team in carrying out day-to-day research work, field activities, data collection cleaning and analysis and writing progress reports.
Develop standard operation procedures for project based activities.
Ensure visit of data collectors to each household of Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) conducted in five different field sites of Aga Khan University Karachi.
Assure vital status (Birth, Deaths, Migration (Migration in, Migration out, and internal Movement) of each household by using HDSS questionnaire.
Assure each pregnant women receiving ANC counselling which focuses on birth registration, nutrition, birth preparedness.
Assure administration of questionnaire to get the pregnant woman‘s/mother‘s self-report of morbidities (hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, puerperal sepsis, obstructive labors and abortion complications) by community health workers.
At each visit, ensure community health workers taking measurements of blood pressure and proteinuria taken using methods appropriate for home use.
Create liaison with secondary and tertiary care hospital to refer sick babies and mothers if any morbidity occur during surveillance.
Hold regular meetings with team.
Training new junior staff (lady health workers LHWs/community health workers, and Research Assistants) in research/interviewing skills and proper data collection.
• Develop the standard operating procedures for the project based activities
• Supervise the field staff regarding different project activities
• Coordinate project activities between the study specialist and field staff
• Independently conduct interviews and write up detailed notes on interviews and observation visits
• Manage field work process to ensure effective use of time
• Facilitate meetings among the research team and junior research staff.

• Visit different households in the communities to ensure the successful completion of the data collection in their areas including Quality control
• Liaison with admin regarding logistics for field work.
•Assure, Monitor and evaluate of all field activities of project.
· Ensure surveillance and recruitment of heamophilus Influenza type B (pneumonia and Meningitis) cases from Different sentinel hospital (7 public and 6 private) of Karachi, Hyderabad, Matiari and Jehlum.
· Ensured taking consent from parents for X-ray procedure for Pneumonia cases and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for Meningitis suspected cases and
· Ensure recruitment of Age matched (± 4 Weeks) controls (1:2 for Meningitis and 1:5 for pneumonia) from immediate neighborhood where the case patient live.
· Followed Meningitis cases and controls for six Months.
· Assure neuro-developmental assessment of all consented cases and controls at Aga Khan University to compare Motor gross deficient, severe hearing impairment, epilepsy and vision impairment.
· Assure receiving, quality check and entry of data timely.
