Position Overview:

As a Material Store Manager your primary responsibility is to manage the inventory and logistics of materials and supplies required for the production process. You will oversee the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring adequate stock levels and efficient flow to support manufacturing operations. Your role will involve collaborating with various departments, suppliers, and logistics partners to optimize inventory management and minimize production delays.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies and procedures.
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels based on production requirements and forecasted demand.
- Conduct regular stock audits to ensure accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials while avoiding excess inventory.
Material Receipt and Inspection:
- Receive incoming materials and perform quality inspections to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Coordinate with quality control teams to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Update inventory systems with accurate information regarding material receipts and inspection results.
Material Storage and Organization:
- Organize the layout and storage of materials in the warehouse for efficient retrieval and space utilization.
- Implement proper labeling, tagging, and categorization systems to facilitate easy identification and retrieval.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices for material handling and storage.
Material Distribution and Replenishment:
- Coordinate with production departments to fulfill material requests and ensure timely delivery to the production line.
- Monitor material consumption patterns and forecast future requirements to initiate timely reordering.
- Collaborate with suppliers and logistics partners to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments efficiently.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of material transactions, including receipts, issues, and transfers.
- Generate reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and material usage.
- Analyze data and identify trends to optimize inventory management and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Team Management and Collaboration:
- Supervise and train material store staff, including assigning tasks and providing guidance.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment to ensure smooth operations and teamwork.
- Liaise with other departments, such as production, procurement, and logistics, to address any material-related issues and streamline processes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve material management processes, streamline workflows, and reduce costs.
- Implement best practices and technology solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in material management practices.
Vendor Management and Purchasing:
- Identify and evaluate vendors for the procurement of accessories and materials required in the production process.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery and competitive pricing.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with vendors to optimize procurement costs.
- Collaborate with the procurement department to create purchase orders and track order status.
- Communicate effectively with vendors regarding material specifications, delivery schedules, and any issues that may arise.
- Monitor vendor performance and resolve any quality or delivery issues in a timely manner.
