ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

We are seeking for someone with strategy planning and implementation, external engagement and communications with the aim of achieving regulation which balances both the business imperatives and corporate reputation of BAT.

Reports to: Cluster Head of CORA Malaysia

Location: Kuala Lumpur

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

Regulatory Affairs (60%)

Ownership of regulatory strategies on company s political and regulatory/public affairs initiatives for both tobacco products and reduced risk products.
Understanding collaborators needs and goals and advance those goals and how best to engage with them for regulatory change.
Engaging with external collaborators to advocate BAT s priorities including preparing briefs on industry issues, facilitating meetings with key collaborators.
Facilitate organisational engagement on agreed strategies, including the leadership team and advise on related risks.
Ensure a robust risk management approach and embedded culture in the development and delivery of regulatory activities.
To support other members of the wider CORA team, locally and in other markets.

Corporate Affairs (40%)

Drive development to execution of communications strategies to drive the company s communications initiatives.
Understanding business priorities and goals through communications strategies.
Overlook key industry issues and the external environment in the media that could have impact on BAT regulatory agenda.
Leading all aspects of the work of third parties and provide ongoing management of all traditional and digital media and public relations material and activities.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

10 or more years validated experience in political, media and government affairs issues
Deep political, public service and media relationships and in-depth understanding of government, regulatory affairs and the media
Validated understanding working with collaborators on critical and sophisticated issues
Experience dealing with crisis communications
