Responsible for some of the significant achievements in the humanitarian communications program, and added value by introducing new tools and techniques for dissemination of lifesaving information, establishing early warning systems with the local and provincial governments and secondment of officers with the Provincial government for their capacity building. It was a cross-cutting theme and emphasized on disseminating lifesaving information to flood affectees, and to communities settled in disaster prone areas. I was responsible for 22 officers and a human network of over 8000 volunteers in Punjab, and, establishing/selecting communication channels, and vetting messages for dissemination.
At district level the job was to act as a bridge between the local government, communities of flood affected areas, provincial office (IOM) and provincial governments. Fill the communication gaps, attend cluster meetings, identify and highlight gaps to the relevant stakeholders, be the voice of flood affectees and direct the clusters in the right direction in collaboration with UN-OCHA. Conduct awareness sessions and identify community members (capable of disseminating information) at village level for Human Network. Steer the network of volunteers, identify communication channels and establish relationships with media personnel. Keep strong coordination with stakeholders, provincial and head offices.
