I am Shamshad Begum, working with UNICEF Pakistan as Research and Evaluation Officer since 1st October 2018. My main responsibilities include overall leading and management of evaluations, providing technical and quality assurance support to UNICEF programme sections on ToRs, data collection tools, field data collection, and draft reports related to evaluation, research and studies. I also provide support in evaluation of technical proposals for selection of firms for evaluation and research related work. Further, I am responsible for updating and uploading the evaluation and research updates including the progress on Evaluation Management Responses (EMRs) implementation in EISI - Evidence Information Integration System UNICEFs internal online portal for evaluation and research studies periodically and tracking the progress of evaluations and research in plan for monitoring, evaluation and research (PRIME).
I also support the implementation of ME work with the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiative and responsible for the coordination of the agreed activities as part of the rolling workplan signed with this Ministry.
Previously, I worked with AKU-IED, as a Researcher in a research project Role of Assessment in Raising Students Learning Experiences and Outcomes in Higher Education Institutes Pakistan Teachers and Students Perspectives. My main responsibilities include developing data collection tools and their validity and reliability test, collecting data through survey questionnaire, semi-structured interview guides and focus group discussion checklists. Entry, transcription, translation, and analysis of data through qualitative and quantitative approaches and writing research report.
From 2005 to 2015, I worked with the Aga Khan Education Service Pakistan as Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Officer.
As my resume indicates, I possess over fifteen years experience in the field of monitoring, evaluation and research mainly working for UNICEF, AKU-IED and AKESP. In my voluntary position in social institutions, I served as chairperson and in other leadership roles, I have demonstrated people management skills and working in teams to achieve results. I have experiences in designing and conducting research studies using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods. I have strong analytical skills, an understanding of monitoring, evaluation and assessment tools to promote evidence-based learning and, I am flexibility in setting targets realistically, managing work plans and tracking progress. My degree in social and cultural anthropology and recently two years MPhil degree in education from AKU-IED has provided me a solid technical and theoretical background to provide leadership to any monitoring, evaluation and research work in any development and teaching organization.

Facilitating annual planning and review sessions at school, regional and central organizational level. Monitoring the progress of school development plans and School Self Evaluation and School Safety Assessment. Producing monthly, quarterly, annual progress reports and End Project reports. Developing research proposals, tools for data collection and verification of the data collection tools. Data collection and analysis though qualitative and quantitative approaches and writing research reports. Arranging professional development sessions for the field and school-based staff on monitoring and evaluation, school development planning and reporting the progress. Assisting senior management in preparing presentations, the programme staff in refining baseline survey tools and facilitating the baseline process and donors monitoring missions.
