Project Statement In Pakistan, energy saving is of great importance. In order to overcome energy crisis the only possible solution with minimum cost is to save energy. Electric motor systems are responsible for more than 65% of the power consumption in all types of industries today. Optimizing motor control systems by installing or upgrading to variable frequency drives (VFDs) can reduce energy consumption in our facility by as much as 70%. No work has ever been done previously on this much high power rating VFDs in the education and research sector of Pakistan. Variable speed drives are also not manufactured at local level owing to the lack of stability of design and therefore industrialists bear the brunt of high costs in importing the speed drives (or VFDs). Moreover listed price of these high power rating motor drive when added to the custom and import taxation fee becomes exponentially unaffordable for the local industries. Motors are subject to the deterioration by running them without VFDs. The irony then is that the industrialists prefer to replace the burnt motors every now and then instead of indulging in the vicious circles of buying and importing the VFDs.
