Key Contributions:
Conduct training for wheat flour mill staff, food inspectors, laboratory staff and District Focal Person on fortification and QA&C processes to promote sustainable and adequate fortification of wheat flour.
Liaise with the provincial manager, assist Provincial Food Department, Food regulatory authorities, Health Department, and wheat flour industries in district-level planning and execution of program activities.
Provide technical support to flour mills for installation of micro-feeders, their calibrations, and setting the flow rate of premix as per standards prescribed by Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority.
Coordinate with premix distributors through the provincial manager to ensure uninterrupted supply of micronutrient premix to the flour mills in the allocated territory, according to their requirements.
Provide Iron Spot Test Kits to flour mills and food inspectors for monitoring of fortified wheat flour at production, market, and household level. Conducted visits to flour mills and markets to ensure quality or production and supply.
Collect samples of fortified wheat flour from all the flour mills, carry samples to Quality Control Laboratories (QCL), ensure their testing, and share feedback with flour mills and enforcement bodies for ensuring compliance.
Record and circulate approved minutes of DMAC/DCCN meetings to all stakeholders and followed up with relevant departments to ensure that decisions taken in these meetings are implemented and reported back.
Conduct a continued baseline survey of salt producers/processors in the assigned zone including information on the potential recipients of the potassium iodate, their existing facilities, areas of distribution, etc. Submit periodic reports along with suitable recommendations to the NPM – USI, EDO Health/DFPs.
Served under Provincial Manager – USI (in the respective province) directions, collected and studied documents and information of assigned areas/zones including the most recent survey on the salt sector conducted by the organization to keep oneself updated on all trends and developments in the Salt sector including new government rules, regulations, and legislation. In consultation with the office of the respective Salt associations, DoH, and the Organization, facilitate DFPs to receive and store potassium iodate, distribute it to the identified salt producers and maintain proper records for the same according to the revised/updated strategy on Potassium Iodate. Collected data of all salt processors in the area and any new addition and deletion in SPs in their respective areas.
Visited factories/salt processing unit’s/iodization facilities of the Potassium Iodate recipients and assist in training the processors in proper maintenance and operation of the equipment and proper iodization process.
