I will not engage in any PSEAH violations and will ensure team working under my supervision will also follow the same protocols. I shall not be involved in any sexual exploitation or abuse. I shall ensure to comply with the highest standards of moral and ethical conduct. Any incident of SEA shall be reported to Acted. Any failure by myside to take preventive measures against sexual exploitation or abuse, or to investigate allegations or take corrective action, shall constitute grounds for termination of the Agreement.

For the purposes hereof, the following definitions shall be used.

Sexual exploitation means any actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power, or trust, for sexual purposes, including, but not limited to, profiting monetarily, socially or politically from the sexual exploitation of another.

Sexual abuse means the actual or threatened physical intrusion of a sexual nature, whether by force or under unequal or coercive conditions.

One such initiative, the "Building Resilience of Food Insecure and Disaster-prone Rural Communities through WASH Assistance and Livelihoods Strengthening" project, is underway in two districts of Sindh (Dadu, Jacobabad) and two districts of Sindh (Jacobabad& Naseerabad).

As part of this endeavor, Acted is seeking a proficient livestock expert/ consultant to manage Acted’s livestock related field activities by ensuring quality trainings, follow ups and provision of technical assistance to livestock farmers. The expert will also provide technical support in the field for implementing these activities with a focus on sustainability measures. The main aim of the task is to enhance livestock management practices and promote sustainable development within the target region.

District Jacobabad, Sindh and  Jaffarabad Balochistan

Timeframe

The consultancy timeframe will be for 4 months starting from January-2025 to April -2025

2. Background

The training project seeks to improve livestock production practices by delivering comprehensive training programs to local farmers and stakeholders. The focus is on integrating sustainability measures to ensure long-term environmental and economic benefits. The Livestock Expert will play a crucial role in delivering technical support and ensuring the successful implementation of these training programs and also provide technical support and follow up after the training for the purpose of sustainability in the livestock sector.

 

3. Objectives

  • Provide expert technical support in the field to enhance the effectiveness of livestock management training sessions.
  • Ensure that sustainability measures are incorporated into all aspects of livestock management practices.
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders and project team members to address challenges and provide solutions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of the training programs on livestock management and sustainability and also provide technical inputs for designing of different interventions for future projects.
  • Record keeping and data management related to the livestock interventions

4. Scope of Work

4.1 Technical Support and Training

  • Assist in conducting different needs assessments to identify knowledge gaps and training requirements.
  • Assist in the developing training modules on livestock management, including nutrition, breeding, disease control, and sustainable practices.
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance to farmers and other stakeholders in the field.
  • Assist in developing training materials and resources tailored to the local context.

4.2 Sustainability Measures

  • Advise on the integration of sustainable practices into livestock management, such as waste management, resource conservation, and eco-friendly practices.
  • Promote the adoption of technologies and practices that enhance productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
  • Support the development of sustainability plans and strategies for livestock management.

4.3 Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monitor the implementation of training programs and assess their effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyze data related to livestock management practices and sustainability outcomes.
  • Provide regular reports on progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement to project Manager and Head of program.

4.4 Collaboration and Coordination

  • Collaborate with project team members, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic planning and decision-making processes.
  • Facilitate communication between project participants and external experts as needed.

5. Deliverables

  • Regular progress reports and updates of the livestock trainings activities
  • Provide technical assistance to local farmers and regular follow up with farmers and their reports.
  • Assist dairy milk producers in developing market chain for their daily milk sale
  • Monitoring of chillers and provision of technical assistance
  • Monthly report of the assigned tasks
  • Final evaluation report on the impact of training programs and sustainability measures.

·        Document and submit detailed case studies and success stories showcasing the impact of training on farmers and their livestock production practices.

6. Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in livestock management, sustainable practices and chillers management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and delivering training programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

7. Duration, Location & Payment

  • The contract will be for 4 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance, budget, and project needs.
  • The position will be based at the Jacobabad and Jaffarabad office, with field visits required as necessary.
  • Payment will be made on monthly basis after completion of assigned tasks and submission and approval of required reports. Deductions will be made for any absences.
  • Acted will provide transportation for field visits and other official assignments.

8. Reporting

  • The Livestock Expert/ Consultant will report Project Manager Acted Pakistan.
