The Metal Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the fabrication team, ensuring production schedules are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety procedures are strictly followed. The role involves supervising daily operations, managing resources, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and productivity in the metal fabrication department.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Thorough understanding of metal fabrication processes such as welding, cutting, machining, and assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in using fabrication tools, machinery
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or certification in metal fabrication, welding technology, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in metal fabrication or manufacturing.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a fabrication environment.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Supervision and Leadership

  • Lead and manage a team of fabricators, welders, and machinists to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Assign work tasks based on production schedules and worker skill levels.
  • Monitor employee performance, provide guidance, and conduct regular training sessions.

Production Management

  • Ensure that fabrication processes adhere to design specifications, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with production planning to set daily and weekly output goals.
  • Coordinate with other departments such as engineering, quality control, and procurement for seamless workflow.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct regular inspections to verify compliance with product standards, design specifications, and tolerances.
  • Identify and address quality issues, initiating corrective actions when necessary.
  • Implement continuous improvement programs to enhance quality and reduce rework or scrap.

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and implement process improvements aimed at reducing costs and increasing productivity.

Administrative Duties

  • Prepare production reports and maintain accurate records of completed work, resource usage, and team performance.
  • Assist in hiring and onboarding new employees.
  • Address employee concerns and resolve conflicts within the team.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to loud noises, dust, and metalworking equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
