The Manager Legal will be responsible for managing and overseeing all legal, taxation, and corporate matters for both clients and in-house requirements. The role requires a proactive professional with a solid understanding of relevant laws and the ability to provide strategic legal advice, ensure compliance, and safeguard the interests of the organization and its clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Legal Advisory and Representation

    • Provide expert legal advice on civil, criminal, property, company law, and taxation matters.
    • Represent the organization and clients in legal proceedings, negotiations, and dispute resolution.
    • Draft, review, and finalize legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies.
  2. Taxation Matters

    • Ensure compliance with income tax and sales tax laws for the organization and its clients.
    • Advise on tax planning strategies and manage tax-related disputes or audits.
  3. Corporate Compliance

    • Manage corporate secretarial duties, including compliance with company law, SEC regulations, and related matters.
    • Oversee regulatory filings, reporting, and adherence to corporate governance standards.
    • Ensure timely renewals of licenses, certifications, and other regulatory requirements.
  4. Property Transactions

    • Provide legal oversight on property transactions, including due diligence, title verification, and drafting property-related agreements.
    • Address legal disputes related to property matters.
  5. In-house Legal Affairs

    • Manage all in-house legal matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and minimizing legal risks.
    • Provide legal support for organizational policies, employment contracts, and dispute resolution.
  6. Client Engagement

    • Serve as a legal advisor to clients, offering tailored solutions for their specific needs.
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and professional expertise.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Law (LLB/LLM) from a recognized institution.
  • Proven experience in handling legal, taxation, and corporate matters, preferably in a managerial role.
  • Strong in written and spoken English.
  • Strong knowledge of civil and criminal law, property transactions, company law, sales tax, income tax, SEC regulations, and other relevant laws.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent legal drafting and analytical skills.
  • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in legal research and using legal management tools.

Additional Information:

  • The position may require travel to attend court hearings, client meetings, or regulatory offices.
  • Professional certification in corporate law or taxation will be an added advantage.
