KfW Entwicklungsbank (KfW Development Bank) is part of KfW Bankengruppe and one of the major financing and implementing agencies of German development cooperation. On behalf of the German Federal Government it finances investments and advisory services in developing countries, typically with governmental institutions. KfW projects are aimed at sustainable economic development, social infrastructure and environmental protection. In 2012, global commitments amounted to EUR 4.9 billion. KfW Entwicklungsbank cooperates closely with the German technical cooperation agency GIZ as well as with other bilateral and multilateral organiations.
