Sindh Community Foundation (SCF) was formed by some young and committed human rights and social workers of Hala and Hyderabad in January 2001 for improving the socio-economic conditions of rural communities and neglected segments of society, specially youth and women. It started working with small level charity actions, including holding free blood grouping and medical camps and slowly shifted to strategic interventions towards sustainable development. For that purpose it mobilized local communities on various issues at village level, formed Community- Based Groups and then transferred the same into Community-based Organizations. SCF mobilized internal and external physical, financial and human resource to become an active and efficient development organization. SCF through its inception period, striving for poverty alleviation, restoration of social activities in the rural areas through mobilizing human and physical resources, adopting community participation approach and gender development cross cutting theme. SCF is registered in Societies act XX1, 1860 under the registration number 5104. It devised comprehensive strategy ranging from social mobilization, training and capacity building, linkages building with resource providers /government line agencies, in collaboration with other CSOs and like-minded NGOs to boost advocacy campaign on various social issues of Sindh province of Pakistan. It is doing advocacy for the rights of people and social justice for the neglected segments of society including women, girls, youth and rural communities. SCF has strengthened its networking with local and national humanitarian and rights-based organizations. SCF has increased it area of operation in 14 districts of Sindh from one in 2 years and undertaking advocacy, capacity building and model building service delivery projects to its advocacy programs. SCF has track record of implementing programs of disaster management, humanitarian response, youth development, women and girls’ empowerment, campaigning, training and action research on environment and climate change and gender based violence, good governance and human rights. It has respond to the humanitarian crises in Sindh province of Pakistan Floods 2010 and 2011.
