The Healthcare Cleaner plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within a healthcare facility. This position is responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and sanitizing tasks to minimize the risk of infection and ensure a positive patient experience. Adherence to strict protocols and procedures is essential.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitizing: Clean and sanitize patient rooms, operating rooms, emergency rooms, restrooms, public areas, offices, and other designated areas using appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment. This includes:

  • Dusting and wiping surfaces (furniture, fixtures, equipment).  
  • Mopping and vacuuming floors.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms (toilets, sinks, showers).
  • Emptying trash and linen receptacles, following proper disposal procedures (including hazardous waste).  
  • Cleaning and sanitizing medical equipment (e.g., wheelchairs, stretchers).
  • Restocking supplies (e.g., soap, paper towels, sanitizers).
  • Infection Control: Follows established infection control protocols and procedures, including hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and proper handling of biohazardous materials.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintains cleaning equipment in good working order and reports any malfunctions promptly.
  • Customer Service: Interacts courteously and professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Safety: Adheres to all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of proper lifting techniques and handling of chemicals.
  • Documentation: May be required to document cleaning activities or complete checklists.
  • Other Duties: Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience: Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting, is a plus but not always required. On-the-job training is typically provided.  

Skills:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
  • Understanding of infection control protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform physically demanding tasks (e.g., lifting, bending, standing for extended periods).  
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of cleanliness.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be presentable. (Age below 25)

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a healthcare environment, which may include exposure to infectious diseases and other hazards.
  • May be required to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.(OT will be applicable)
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and gowns.
