Essential Duties:  

Crane Operation: Operate a 70-ton crane to lift and move materials, equipment, and structures in a safe and efficient manner. Use crane controls, levers, and pedals to maneuver the crane boom, hoist, and jib to the desired position and elevation.

Load Handling: Attach, lift, and release loads using appropriate rigging equipment, such as slings, chains, and hooks. Ensure that loads are properly secured, balanced, and positioned to prevent accidents, damage, or instability during lifting operations.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, procedures, and best practices while operating the crane. Conduct pre-operational inspections of the crane and rigging equipment to verify proper functioning and identify any defects or hazards. Implement safety measures, such as signaling, barricading, and maintaining clear work areas, to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.

Communication: Communicate effectively with site supervisors, signalers, and other team members to coordinate lifting activities and ensure safe and efficient crane operation. Follow hand signals, radio commands, or other communication protocols to maintain clear communication and minimize risks during lifting operations.

Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on the crane, including lubrication, inspection, and minor repairs, to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Report any mechanical issues, malfunctions, or safety concerns to the maintenance department for timely resolution and corrective action.

Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of crane operation, including lift logs, maintenance records, and safety inspections. Document lifting activities, equipment usage, and any incidents or near misses for compliance, reporting, and analysis purposes.

Requirements 

  • Minimum of 5 -10 years of experience as a crane operator, with proficiency in operating large-capacity cranes in construction or industrial settings.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a certified crane operator training program or apprenticeship.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness (Dover test)
  • Valid crane operator license or certification for operating a 70-ton crane.
  • Strong knowledge of crane operation principles, rigging techniques, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and lift plans.
  • Physical strength, coordination, and spatial awareness to operate a crane safely and effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
