Essential Duties:
- Operate a 10-ton forklift to transport materials to and from designated storage areas, loading docks, or production lines.
- Safely load and unload trucks, trailers, or containers using the forklift, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing of loads.
- Stack and arrange materials or products in storage areas or racks according to predetermined storage plans or organizational guidelines.
- Inspect and perform routine maintenance on the forklift, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and mechanical components, and reporting any defects or issues to the supervisor.
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established forklift operating guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, supervisors, or truck drivers to coordinate material handling activities and ensure efficient workflow.
- Operate other warehouse equipment or machinery as needed, such as pallet jacks or hand trucks, to assist with loading, unloading, or transporting materials.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of the forklift and complete inspection checklists to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Keep accurate records of forklift operations, including daily logs of activities, materials handled, and any incidents or accidents.
- Assist with general warehouse duties, such as inventory counting, order picking, or housekeeping tasks, as required.
Requirements:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license, with specific training and experience in operating 10-ton forklifts.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness (Dover test).
- Proven experience as a forklift operator in an industrial or warehouse environment, with a strong understanding of forklift safety principles and procedures.
- Ability to operate forklift controls with precision and accuracy, including lifting, lowering, tilting, and maneuvering loads in confined spaces.
- Physical strength and stamina to safely lift and move heavy objects, often weighing up to 10 tons or more.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception, with the ability to judge distances and heights accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and focus on safety, with the ability to follow instructions and adhere to established procedures.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with coworkers, supervisors, and other personnel in a warehouse setting.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime hours, as required by operational needs.
