Essential Duties:
- Operate a 3-ton forklift to transport materials to and from designated storage areas, loading docks, or production lines.
- Safely load and unload trucks, trailers, or containers using the forklift, ensuring proper weight distribution and securing of loads.
- Stack and organize materials or products in storage areas or racks according to prescribed layouts or inventory management systems.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of the forklift, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and mechanical components, and report any defects or issues to the supervisor.
- Always adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following established forklift operating guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, supervisors, or truck drivers to coordinate material handling activities and ensure efficient workflow.
- Assist with inventory counting, order picking, or other general warehouse duties as needed, utilizing the forklift or other equipment as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records of forklift operations, including daily logs of activities, materials handled, and any incidents or accidents.
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks, such as refueling, lubricating, or cleaning the forklift, to ensure its proper functioning and longevity.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures regarding safety, quality, and operational efficiency, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
Requirements:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license, with specific training and experience in operating 3-ton forklifts.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness (Dover test).
- Proven experience as a forklift operator in an industrial, warehouse, or construction environment, with a solid understanding of forklift safety principles and operating procedures.
- Ability to operate forklift controls with precision and accuracy, including lifting, lowering, tilting, and maneuvering loads in tight spaces.
- Physical strength and stamina to safely lift and move materials, often weighing up to 3 tons or more.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and depth perception, with the ability to judge distances and heights accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on safety, with the ability to follow instructions and adhere to established protocols.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with coworkers, supervisors, and other personnel in a warehouse setting.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and overtime hours, as required by operational needs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
