Essential Duties:
- Operate reach stackers to lift, move, and stack containers in ports, terminals, and storage yards.
- Use hand and foot controls to maneuver the reach stacker and position containers accurately.
- Secure containers using twist locks, chains, or other securing devices to prevent shifting during transportation.
- Follow loading and unloading plans to ensure efficient container handling and minimize delays.
- Communicate with supervisors, crane operators, and other team members to coordinate container movements and maintain workflow.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections of the reach stacker to check for any mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Perform routine maintenance on the reach stacker, such as checking fluid levels, greasing moving parts, and inspecting hydraulic systems.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, accidents, or incidents to the appropriate personnel and follow company procedures for documenting and reporting incidents.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the reach stacker and surrounding work area.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a reach stacker operator or similar role.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness (Dover test).
- Certification or training in reach stacker operation is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of operating reach stackers and familiarity with container handling procedures.
- Ability to interpret and follow loading and unloading plans.
- Physical strength and stamina to perform tasks such as operating controls and sitting for extended periods.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety at all times.
