Job Overview/Summary:
This role would specialize in the management of engineering operations on a daily basis. He/ She would have a more strategic role, planning, researching, and developing new ideas, and streamlining engineering operations.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Lead on technical feasibility / assessment (site identification, material, labor, transportation, supplies etc.) of WASH & CPI’s activities prior implementation to ensure sustainability & cost effectiveness as well as agreed time frame of project at field level.
2. Perform quality & quantity assurance checks by paying regular visits to construction sites to verify the work is performed in compliance with the plans and specifications.
3. Monitoring progress of EH infrastructure during each phase of the project.
4. Field Engineer will ensure that all construction sites meet legal/standardized guidelines, health and safety requirements, and keeping in view universal access guidelines.
5. Field engineer is responsible for ensuring that designs and solutions are developed in consultation with communities, and are designed to meet the community’s needs, with sufficient and effective feedback on designs from the clients.
6. Field Engineer is responsible for professional/technical engineering designs/drawings and review standards, surveys and inspections.
7. Regular field visits to ensure the quality of the project as per the specifications mentioned in the approved estimate.
8. Provides guidance to the IRC-EH team on code compliance, keeping in view the IRC standard operational procedures.
9. Supervision/development/review the following.
a) WASH infrastructure both in schools and villages.
b) Technical aspects of the project related to Environmental Sanitation
c) Inclusive WASH approaches
d) DRR/DRM resilient WASH infrastructure
e) Development of BOQs
f) Designing and construction of water supply schemes,
g) Designing and construction of solid/liquid waste management system.
h) Designing of different types of hand washing facilities.
10. Assess potential risks, provide advice and resolve creatively any emerging problems/deficiencies during implementation of EH project.
11. Supervise all the technical assessments and monthly evaluations of engineering activities and report all the activities to Senior Field Engineer in a timely manner. Carry out other such tasks as assigned by supervisor.
