Technical

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop in depth understanding of project documents (Minimum Standards & specifications) as well as business process / DIP for planning & implementation Shelter activities.
  • Supervise and monitor all construction activities related to shelter projects.
  • Ensure that construction work aligns with approved minimum standards, drawings, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate with village restoration community (VRC) members, assistant engineers, and project teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of milestones.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and prepare progress reports.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, identify challenges, and provide technical guidance
  • Review and approve construction materials and resources for quality assurance.
  • Conduct training for assistant engineers and masons on the approved minimum standards to ensure familiarity and proper implementation during the construction process of shelter.
  • Address any on-site technical challenges or conflicts with design and propose solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols on site.
  • Communicate with stakeholders including project managers, Snr officers, and local authorities.
  • Monitor project timelines and adjust schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Develop monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of Shelter projects.
  • Focused efforts to be made for mainstreaming of marginalized groups i.e. Persons with disability and old age, minorities, Women & children etc in consultation & implementation of project activities at ground.
  • Participate in coordination meetings with the project team and donor to share information, discuss progress, and collaborate on joint initiatives to ensure alignment and successful project implementation.
  • Prepare documentation for project deliverables and assist in project closeout.
  • Perform any additional duties as directed by the Snr Engineer.

Operational

  • Preparation of weekly / monthly work plans against PMT (performance measured time frame) by ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks in stipulated time period.
  • Conducting technical survey of Shelters in the villages
  • Monitoring of schemes.
  • Ensure quality of material

Organizational

  •  Ensure compliance with IR’s policies & procedures in true spirit for effective delivery of services to communities.
  • In depth understanding of IR values and their demonstration in the field while working with communities.
  • Abide by the IR zero tolerance policy towards bribery & corruption through sensitization / empowerment of communities on coping mechanism so that they can raise voice as & when feel inappropriate.
  • Assist in identification & documentation of organizational successes for show casing IR work
  • Facilitate communities in adaptation of environment friendly & cost effective approaches to meet their current as well as future needs with specific attention to climate change.
  • Focused efforts to be made for mainstreaming of marginalized groups i.e. Persons with disability and old age, minorities, Women & children etc in consultation & implementation of project activities at ground.
  • Participation and facilitation in implementation of IR seasonal programmes.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Person Specification:It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the organizational values & principles, vision and mission as well as commitment to its SEAH (sexual exploitation abuse and harassment) protocols. We have zero tolerance policy towards SEAH and doesn’t support any action that promote or encourage SEAH.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills –Tact and sensitivity essential.
  • Excellent written communication skills essential.
  • Good analytical skills essential.
  • Good IT skills to include Excel, Word and use of databases desirable.
  • S/he must possess solid experience of water testing and treatment in emergencies
  • Be able to work autonomously and collaboratively, leading and as part of a team.
