Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with drivers, clients, and team members to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
- Plan and optimize truck routes based on factors such as distance, traffic, and delivery deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with drivers to provide clear instructions, updates on routes, and address any issues that arise during transit.
- Monitor the progress of trucks using GPS tracking and communication systems to ensure deliveries are on track.
- Quickly adapt to unforeseen challenges such as traffic congestion, accidents, and road closures, and provide alternate routes when necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of routes taken, delivery times, and incidents during transit.
- Act as a point of contact for clients, providing updates on shipment status and addressing any inquiries or concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including hours of service limits and safety protocols.
- Utilize software and technology tools to streamline dispatching tasks and enhance overall efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to a positive team environment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a truck dispatcher or in a similar logistics role.
- Strong geographical knowledge and understanding of transportation logistics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with drivers, clients, and team members.
- Proficiency in using dispatching software and GPS tracking systems.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions to resolve unexpected challenges.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with hours of service regulations and transportation industry best practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional relevant certifications or education is a plus.
