Position Summary:

The Communication Officer will support the School Meal Program by developing and implementing effective communication strategies to promote the program's impact and achievements. This role includes managing social media, developing content, and coordinating media coverage to enhance the program's visibility and outreach..

Documentation and Content Creation:

  • Capture high-quality photographs and videos of program activities, beneficiaries, and events to visually document the impact of the School Meal Program.
  • Develop compelling case studies and success stories that highlight the achievements and positive outcomes of the program.
  • Assist in drafting and editing content for reports, newsletters, and other communication materials to effectively convey the program's progress and impact.

Media and Public Relations:

  • Assist in coordinating media coverage and public relations efforts to raise awareness about the School Meal Program.
  • Support the organization of events, press conferences, and other public engagements to promote the program.
  • Maintain an updated media contact list and assist in the distribution of press releases and other communications.

Internal and External Communication:

  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with the Programme Manager, Communication Manager, and other team members to align communication strategies and activities.
  • Prepare and disseminate internal newsletters and updates to keep staff informed about program activities and achievements.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of communication materials such as brochures, flyers, and posters.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate with WFP, the education department, and other relevant technical line departments on related activities.
  • Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders.

Social Media and Online Presence:

  • Contribute to managing the program's social media accounts by creating and posting engaging content.
  • Monitor and analyze social media engagement and feedback to improve communication strategies.
  • Assist in updating the program's section on the organization's website with current news, stories, and multimedia content.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records and archives of all communication materials, including photographs, videos, case studies, and success stories.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of communication activities and suggest improvements.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports on communication activities to the Programme Manager and Communication Manager.

Capacity Building:

  • Provide training and support to program staff on effective communication practices and the use of communication tools.
  • Promote the importance of communication within the program team and encourage staff to contribute to content creation.
