Key Responsibilities:

Teaching:

  • Design, deliver, and assess undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in biochemistry, such as:
    • General Biochemistry
    • Metabolic Biochemistry
    • Enzymology
    • Molecular Biology
    • Biochemical Techniques
  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, laboratory sessions, and tutorials.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching methods, including the use of technology and active learning strategies.
  • Assess student learning effectively through exams, quizzes, assignments, and projects.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Mentored and advised undergraduate and graduate students.

Research:

  • Establish and maintain an independent research program in the area of biochemistry.
  • Secure external funding to support research activities through grant applications.
  • Conduct original research and publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate research projects.
  • Present research findings at national and international conferences.
  • Collaborate with other researchers within and outside the university.

Service:

  • Participate in departmental and university service activities.
  • Serve on committees and contribute to the academic community.
  • Engage in professional development activities, such as attending conferences and workshops.
  • Maintain a professional and ethical approach to teaching and research.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • MBBS or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Skills:

Teaching & Pedagogy:

  • Excellent teaching skills, including course design, delivery, and assessment.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Experience with a variety of teaching methods, including active learning and technology-enhanced instruction.

Research Skills:

  • Strong research skills, including experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
  • Ability to secure external funding for research.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.

Laboratory Skills:

  • Proficiency in relevant laboratory techniques, such as protein purification, molecular cloning, spectroscopy, and microscopy.
