Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan is looking for competent Dental Assistant for Karachi Region.
The incumbent will be responsible for providing support and assist the Dental Surgeon, ensuring the patients receives best dental care.
Provide assistance to patients and doctor with tasks, preparing patients for procedures and assisting dentists with common procedures such as filling, extractions, root canals, cleaning, etc
Responsibilities
- Support dental care delivery by preparing treatment room, instruments, and materials by following prescribed procedures and protocols
- Prepare the patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, reviewing the health form and draping the patient
- Assemble instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to the treatment area, positioning instruments for dentists’ access, suctioning and passing instruments
- Assist the dentist by mixing materials
- Educate patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control and postoperative instructions including medication prescribed by the dentist
- Document dental care services by charting in patient records and updating the OPD register.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations as per SOPs and policies
- Maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying supplies’ receipts
- Shelving the stock medicines according to numbers and tags; store other related supplies in an organized way
- Makes sure to lubricate handpieces scalers micro motors to keep these in proper working condition
- Performs duties according to duty roster
- Any other task assigned by Supervisor
Education, Experience & Competencies
- Intermediate/ preferably Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist Diploma
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a reputable healthcare institution
- Intermediary level communication skills, both verbal and written with patients and staff
- Ability to work under pressure
- Basic minimum computer literacy skills, sufficient to undertake the requirements of the position
