AKHS, P is looking for a seasoned Nursing Assistant for its healthcare facility in Gilgit Region.
The incumbent is responsible to performs the task under supervision of Registered Nurse to facilitate him/her in providing direct and indirect patient care in the inpatient and outpatient areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists patients with hygiene care activities:
- Transports / escorts patients to and from various locations of the unit e.g. from ward to X-Ray department, for consultation to the clinics etc.

- Maintains cleanliness of the equipment and unit.
- Measures and records oral intake and output.
- Observes patients on an on-going basis and reports unusual findings to RN, CHN/ LHV/RM and performs basic nursing procedure independently
- Keeps Oxygen humidifiers cleaned and dried with label of cleaning date
- Assists in performing Endoscopies as needed by the unit.
- Answers call bells/ acknowledge patient’s calls.
- Assists patients with hygiene care activities:
- Ensures complete preparation (equipment and supplies) for clinics if assigned in OPD and in wards.
- Responsible to collect and move specimen from various areas of hospital to laboratory and also collects reports of in patient and distribute in line with departmental procedures.
- Brings confidential files from Medical Record
- Assists in safe transfer of patients to and from bed, chair, wheelchair, stretcher or trolley ensuring necessary safety measures.
- Measures and records oral intake and output.
- Cognizant of and follows isolation techniques and comply with infection control protocols
- Ensures complete preparation (equipment and supplies) for clinics if assigned in OPD and in wards.
- Performs nursing procedures independently
- ECG, IV cannulation, NG insertion and feeding under supervision of RN/Doctor
- Performs any other task assigned by HN/Supervisor
Experience, Skills and Competencies:
- Matric/FSc
- Trained as “Nursing Assistant” from a teaching Hospital
- Minimum 1 year experience as nursing assistant in any Clinical unit
- Ability to speak and understand job related English, sufficient to carryout nursing care instructions.
- Demonstrate polite and courteous behavior at all times.
- Demonstrate positive attitude to those in authority.
- Ability to give oral instructions / information to patients and visitors in Urdu, other local languages.
